The one trade-off: sublimation has more limited fabric options than other methods, as the design is infused into polyester.

A sneak peek behind sublimation printing
As powerful as the process is, only three items are involved — the sublimation printer, transfer paper and a heat press — and it comes down to two steps.
Print the inks onto transfer paper
The sublimation printer prints heat-sensitive inks onto transfer paper in reverse. The inks cool from a gas to a solid, solidifying on the paper.
Heat-press it into the fabric
A heat press applies a specific level of heat and pressure until the inks turn to gas. They infuse into the polyester and solidify once the press is lifted — becoming part of the fabric.
The secret lies in the printer's control of temperature and knowing exactly how long to apply the pressure — that's what delivers a bright, beautiful design.

Common questions about sublimation printing
What fabric does sublimation need?
Polyester or dri-fit. The ink turns to gas and bonds into the fibres, which only works on polyester — it isn't suited to cotton. Our dri-fit range is all sublimation-friendly.
Does a more colourful design cost more?
No — colour is free in sublimation. You can use up to 200 colours across the garment at no added cost, so a complex all-over design costs the same as a simple one.
Can you feel the print on the fabric?
No. The design is infused into the fibres rather than sitting on top of them, so there's no layer to feel, and nothing to crack or peel. It lasts around five years.
Is sublimation good for team jerseys?
Yes — it's the method for edge-to-edge designs that run across seams, which is why it's the usual choice for sports jerseys.
